Distribution and abundance of birds at the Salton Sea
Imperial Co., CA

Project Start Date: 1999

Objectives:
The objectives of the study were to document for the first time the abundance and distribution of all birds at the Salton Sea through an entire year. In addition, we gathered data on the seasonal use, and broadscale habitat associations of birds at the Salton Sea and adjacent habitats.

Focal Species:
All birds

Habitat Type:
The Salton Sea, shoreline, freshwater wetlands (both natural and created), riparian zones, islands

Partners:
The Salton Sea Authority, The Salton Sea Science Subcommittee, USFWS - Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge, University of Redlands
