FULL Saturday, October 18, 2008 Marin Headlands
9 am-3 pm. Mid October is a fine time for birding the Marin Headlands. Most wintering species will have arrived and some fall migrants should still be lingering. If the weather is right, a vigil on “Hawk Hill” can be excellent with many passing raptors representing a nice variety of species. A larger percent of these will be adult birds compared with youngsters earlier in the season. Unfortunatally, we could get “fogged-out” from the top of the hill but, more likely in mid-October it will be Indian Summer…calm, clear and warm. Meet at 9 AM at the footbridge across from the fire station near the beach-end of Rodeo Lagoon. We will finish around 3 PM somewhere in the headlands. Bring a field lunch, plenty of liquids, and a pack to carry it in. Dress for the weather and always bring a coat a hat and gloves for the unique coastal weather.
Cost $50.00 per person.
