Bird and Habitat Science on the Pacific Coast

Wrentit in Coastal Scrub

Science in a Changing World
In a time of rapid environmental change and land-based development, ecologically appropriate management techniques are more important than ever.  Scientists in PRBO’s Pacific Coast Group conduct research and monitoring programs to protect birds and their habitats along the Pacific Coast of the Americas.  Our scientific findings are used to evaluate and guide land management and restoration efforts.

Training the Next Generation
Additionally, our work in Pacific Coast ecosystems provides exposure and experience for the next generation of scientists.  We maintain a robust intern program throughout the Western US and also host school and public groups for educational fieldtrips to our field research sites.

Collaboration is Key
Effective conservation action is best accomplished through cooperative efforts.  Therefore fostering, strengthening and maintaining cooperative partnerships is an ongoing and important aspect of PRBO’s work in Pacific Coast conservation.
