Wetlands Ecology Division Mission Statement
Our purpose is to take a lead role in promoting the enhancement, restoration, and creation of coastal and wetland habitats west of the Rocky Mountains in ways that maintain and increase numbers and diversity of wetland bird species. We will do this by identifying and designing landscapes needed by wetland bird communities, by conducting research needed to elucidate requirements of the life cycle of birds, by designing and implementing monitoring programs for these wetlands, and by translating our scientific data into information to be used in public outreach, policy building, and education promoting wetland bird conservation. We will achieve this mission by gathering scientifically sound, repeatable data, ethically collected, in synergistic collaboration with partners when possible, and in support of adaptive conservation planning.
